The National Marrow Donor Registry needs you…

cta_join

I’m taking a moment from the silliness and want to briefly talk to you about a cause that I think is truly important. For those of you that know me personally, my life has been touched by cancer recently as a loved one of mine has been fighting for her life. There are always lessons in something as serious as this, and one of the things that I’ve learned while going through this journey with her, is that there is a great need for healthy people like you and me to sign up with the National Marrow Donor Registry. I’ve taken the steps to be a part of this by mailing in a kit that was sent to my home. All I had to do was fill out a form and use the large q-tips provided to swab the inside of my mouth to test my cells. I’m all set, and hopefully one day, I can help someone out who is need of  life-saving bone marrow or stem cells. If you find that you are healthy and would be willing to help someone out in the future, please click on this link for more information:

I know this is not for everyone, but please think about the fact that you can help save a life by doing something as simple as adding your name to this list. There are more details to go over, but I won’t bore you with them unless you have any questions that you’d like me to answer:) Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Pet of Da’ Week:

Submitted by reader Paula K.

“Our cat, Molly. She was a previously used model that sat at the vet’s for adoption for about a year. I had to take our other cat, Merlin for that last ride…..saw her there & her face stayed with me. I went back to get “Millie”. She took a while to realize that kisses were good things & that putting a hand near her face was okay, really.
She now gets up on her hind legs for a kiss & is happy with us.

R.I.P. “Socks”

I would have listened to you, Socks. If you would have called for a national “Caturday”, I would have happily obliged. Unfortunately, we must say adieu to one of our feline friends.

He was about 18. Socks had lived with Bill Clinton’s secretary, Betty Currie, in Hollywood, Md., since the Clintons left the White House in early 2001.(AP Photo/Marcy Nighswander, File”
