    my parents’ dog reacts the same way at the beginning of each winter, but they dont do it to torture him. they do it to: 1) protect his paws from the salt that’s on the street (for melting the ice/snow) when walking him, 2) to keep him from coming inside with enough snowballs attached to his legs/paws to be well supplied for a snowball fight. he gets used to the booties as winter goes along, especially when there’s treats involved. he has, at least once, purposefully asked to go outside in the winter just to get the treat when he came in.
